What?
A 42,195 km marathon that crosses the Brenta Riviera and Venice lagoon. No other (or shorter) event is available on the day, all the 7000 runners share a common goal, completing the marathon.

Where?
From Stra to the historical center of Venice, crossing the Brenta Riviera, the neglected industrial area of Marghera, the city of Mestre and the park of San Giuliano.

When?
If you want to run the 2011 edition, the big day is October 23rd.

Why?
Forget the crowded Venice Carnival, the Film Festival and the Regata Storica: October is the best time to visit the historical center of Venice. Less people, more reasonable prices and an amazing marathon. After the Brenta Riviera and the park of San Giuliano, if you can manage the very long, lonely and often windy bridge from Mestre to Venezia, you can enjoy possibly the best finish in the world, just outside St. Mark's Square. With the bonus of a noisy crowd, at least for Italian standards. The 6 hours limit is strictly enforced and you won't be able to complete the race if you don't: the temporary and floating bridge a few hundreds meter before the finish line will be promptly removed to allow the vaporetto in Canal Grande.
