What?
A marathon, a party atmosphere and Rhenanian cheerfulness in the city of Cologne. An half marathon is available as well.
Where?
The Köln Marathon takes place in the city centre of Cologne, the media city and carnival centre of Germany: start & finish are in the Cologne Deutz area, not far from the famous cathedral and the race crosses the Rhine twice.
When?
The Cologne marathon and half marathon will be on October 02, 2011.
Why?
An (empty) Cologne beer glass in the race packet, a lot of great beer after the race for everybody and a pure party atmosphere, with thousands of people celebrating in the streets on race day. Both walkers and skaters, as long as they complete the marathon in less than 6 hours, can join as well. Every year almost 10K runners registered for the main race in the largest German city after Berlin, Hamburg and Munich, with similar numbers for the half marathon. And if you are a slow runner, you can still grab the first price for the best costume wearer. Possibly the most important award in the German carnival centre.
