What?
The 12th European Marathon and the 16th European Two Castles Half Marathon in Trieste.
Where?
The marathon starts in Gradisca (Gorizia), cross Monfalcone, Duino and continues along the Strada Costiera (Coast Road). The finish is in Trieste. The runners of the half marathon join the same course in Duino and enjoy as well the Trieste bay.
When?
The Bavisela 2011 will be held on May 8th.
Why?
The city of illycaffè, Trieste has a long tradition of great coffee: try an espresso before the race at the very famous Caffè degli Specchi or Caffè Tommaseo. Many marathons pretend to be international but for Trieste the title "European Marathon" is well justified: just few miles from the Slovenian border, the city is not far away from Croatia and Austria. A great chance for a short holiday around Europe. The Bavisela includes other sport events, as the Regatta Without Borders and the Young Marathon. The expo will be open for four days with music and social events. And if the bora wind is not too strong, it's a race for a PB as well. Unless you drink too much grappa.
