What?
A hilly half marathon in the USA's top running city. 5K runners join the race every year.

Where?
The race kicks off on the waterfront in Aquatic Park and offers a great scenic route in San Francisco through the Marina, Presidio, Golden Gate Bridge (twice) and historic Muni Pier.

When?
Nobember 6th is the autumn day for 2011 to enjoy a few hills in San Francisco. Note that the SF Marathon (www.runsfm.com) is a more popular event (with over 24K runners) in the city and is hold every year late in July but April and November (other traditional date of the US half) are the best time for a race in the Bay, with a cool and refreshing morning.

Why?
With Chicago, Boston and NYC as first choices, most European runners prefer to book a flight to the East coast. But California offer great races, incredible weather and the best option for a one week break, whatever you prefer a race downtown or some trail running. The view from the Golden Gate Bridge is superb and while enjoying Presidio you will quickly forget the hilly course: the race is a 13 miles tour of what the best city in California has to offer. A cocktail in Castro or a daily trip exploring the bay will be the best way to recover from the race.
