What?
A marathon, a half marathon, a 10K and a 5K in the most famous running weekend in Ontario.
Where?
In the city centre of Ottawa, the bilingual capital of Canada. The start of the marathon will be on Elgin Street and follows the Ontario side of the Ottawa River with nice views over Chateau Laurier and Parliament Hill.
When?
The 2011 Ottawa Race Weekend is scheduled on May 28th and 29th. The marathon and the half marathon are on the Sunday, the shorter races are on the Saturday. Maximum 4500 runners are allowed to register for the marathon.
Why?
The chance to take part to Canada's premiere race weekend and choose whatever distance you prefer, running on the south bank of the Ottawa River, with a short cross and amazing view in Quebec. Great crowd support, with people cheering in French and English and a lovely sightseeing tour of the capital. Enjoy after the race a local beaver tail and a lager near the Byward Market or relax in one of the too many coffee shops in the eclectic downtown. And add a few days to visit Toronto and Montreal as well. The marathon is walker-friendly but all participants must complete the distance within 7 hours. The race is the site of the 2011 Canadian Marathon Championships.
