What?
The Hella Hamburg halbmarathon is one of the few German summer half marathons, a flat and fast race in the city known as one of the most important harbours in the world.

Where?
From Reeperbahn to Rothenbaumchaussee, in Hamburg city centre.

When?
End of June, beginning of July.

Why?
Among runners Hamburg is mainly famous for the international marathon (www.marathon-hamburg.de) that attracts every Spring over 15K runners from around Europe. But if you are looking forward to a summer break in Germany, when good hotel deals are not hard to find, flights are cheaper and the weather is milder, the Hamburg halbmarathon (6500 runners expected in 2011) offers a great sightseeing tour. From the fish market to the harbour, from the HafenCity to the Reeperbahn, the very fast city course passes the main tourist attractions. Add a great selection of sausages, beers and live music to have the perfect weekend in Germany. For more information about the city, check the exhaustive Hamburg Tourismus website (www.hamburg-tourism.de/en).
