What? A marathon, a half marathon and the bizarre schnuppermarathon (12.5km) are the 3 races in the heartland of Switzerland, in the beautiful city of Lucerne.

Where? The start and finish of the race are at the Museum of Transport, the course is mainly along the lake and around the Horw peninsula. The marathon is 2 laps, the half marathon one.                   (image from swiss-image.ch)

When? All the 2011 races are taking place on Sunday October 30th. Maximum time is 3 hours for the half marathon and 5 hours and 30 minutes for the marathon.

Why? Lucerne has more to offer than the legend of William Tell or the old city centre: the city is a great running spot, with perfect Swiss organization (Isostar bars and sport drink will be offer along the course, as well as Eichhof beer after you complete the race) and a huge and enthusiastic crowd. Thanks to a flexible schedule, you can even decide while you run whether you wish to go for a shorter distance. Enjoy a relaxing weekend around the lake, visit the beautiful old town or add an extra day to visit Mount Rigi or the Rütli Meadow nearby.
