What?
The LGT half marathon Plus (25k) and the LGT marathon (42.2k) are two great summer (trail) races in the Principality of Liechtenstein. A 10k nordic walking distance is available as well.
Where?
The marathon starts 10km outside Vaduz and through paved walking paths reaches the small resort of Malbun, passing by the castle of the Duke of Liechtenstein and dreamy landscapes: a challenging course with grueling ascents up to the Sass Fuerkle (1800m).
When?
The 2011 edition will be on June 11th.
Why?
If you believe that the tiny alpine country is just about historic postage stamps and is too small (62 sq mi) to host a long distance race, think again: the LGT Alpin Marathon is the most important sport event in Liechtenstein and more than 1000 runners from all over Europe join every year for incredible views over Vaduz and Switzerland. A great organization and people clogging the road to support all the exhausted runners are more good reasons for a summer race in the heart of Europe.
