What?
The Limassol International Marathon is the major running event in Limassol, the second largest city of Cyprus. A half marathon and a 10K are organized the same day too.

Where?
The start and finish are on the seafront of Limassol (at the Old Stadium GSO) and the race follows a coastal route via the towns of Limassol City, Akti Olympion, Germassogia, Agios Tychon, Ancient Amathus and Pyrgos village. You will never be far away from the sea as the "Run along the waves" logo suggests.

When?
Organized by Olympus Event Management and supported by the Cyprus Tourism Organisation, the 2012 edition will be on March 18.

Why?
It's not Berlin or the NYC marathon, it is not a world class event (yet), and the website needs some improvements. But the Limassol marathon is a great chance to run a very flat race and enjoy a cheap and sunny break in early spring, with great beaches and breathtaking trails. Drink a glass of Commandaria, a sweet dessert wine, enjoy the party capital of Cyprus and spend a few relaxing days around the Mediterranean island when the crowds are gone. Check the Cyprus Tourism Organisation (www.visitcyprus.com) website for more ideas.
