The Bangalore Ultra is recommended by Sunil Chainani, a management consultant who lives in Bangalore. Sunil's other interests include playing squash, running with the Hash House Harriers, travel, music and learning about wine.

What?
The Bangalore Ultra is the only ultramarathon in India, but also offers runs for those who wish to run shorter distances. The run comprises loops of 12.5 km, and the distances one can enter are in multiples of 12.5 km with the maximum distance being 100 km. So race categories are from 25K to 100K.
Where?
Organised by a group of runners, the ultramarathon is on a beautiful trail on the outskirts of the busy city of Bangalore, and is away from the noise, pollution and traffic of the big city. The race has well stocked aid stations every 2 kms and the support crew are on call to assist all runners.
When?
The 2011 edition will be on Sunday 13th November – will be an early morning start for the longer distance runners. November is also a pleasant month with temperatures in the range of 18-25°C and low humidity. The course is open for 12 hours and there is also an option of running as much as you can in the time limit.
Why?
Aside from being known as the IT and pub capital of India, Bangalore is an excellent base to visit the many treasures of South India and beaches in Goa (600 km away). Enjoy the fresh coconuts, a yogurt based lassi before the race or experience the Bangalore pub scene or one of the many fast food joints serving South Indian food to celebrate your achievement.
