What?
The Pro Potsdam Schlösserlauf offers a half marathon and 10 K in the city of Potsdam. Since 2011 no marathon distance is available, but walking and nordic walking are offer as alternative to the running race. Along with the Potsdamer Drittelmarathon in April, the Schlösserlauf is the major running event in the capital city of the State of Brandenburg
Where?
A lovely sightseeing loop, starting from the Havel River and running through the main parks and tourist attractions in Potsdam city centre.
When?
The 2011 edition of the race will be on June 5th. Time limit is 3.5 hours, enough for a pleasent walk in the city.
Why?
A flat city race, one of the rare chances to cross a royal site (the Sanssouci Palace) while running a half marathon. A World Heritage site, Potsdam is only 20 minutes by train from Berlin: from the Schloß Sanssouci palace to Sacrow Park, from the Alexandrowka to the Dutch Quarter, the city is one of the main tourist attraction in Germany. But spend a few days in vibrant and cosmopolitan Berlin as well!
