Runners who are planning to participate in the Emilie’s Run race will be delighted to know that although last year’s winners did not receive any cash prize, this year’s top five winners will receive a cash prize. This announcement has come after the race organizers have managed to find a sponsor to the event who has agreed to finance the event for the next three years. The first five runners will receive a cash prize of a maximum of $1000 for the first runner and $300 for the fifth one.
The sponsor is none other than Sports4 and has agreed to lend its support for the upcoming three years. Race director Ken Parker said that this cash price is expected to attract some of the best runners of Canada into the race and hope to give this race more popularity.
The race which is at its sixth edition will be run next June on the 23rd and is run in honor of talented Canadian distance runner Emilie Mondor who tragically died in a car accident back in 2006. This women only race saw the participation of hundreds of women last year and 19 runners out of 355 finishers completed the race in less than 20mins.
