Visitors who will be in Seychelles next year will have the chance to participate in the annual Sunyang Eco-Healing Seychelles Marathon which will be held next year in February 25.  The marathon which was pioneered by Mr. Dong Chang Jeong-Honorary Consul General for South korea and head of the Seychelles Tourist Office in Korea-and held for the first time in 2008 was initiated with the aim of not only promoting Seychelles but also bringing local people and tourist together.

The idea behind the marathon was also to promote a healthy lifestyle among people.  This fifth edition is expected to bring together about 300 overseas participants and other hundreds of local participants as opposed to only 330 participants when it was organized for the first time.

The Marathon will start at 7:00am and will set off from Beau Vallon and cover the Northern and North Western areas of the main island of Mahe including the capital city of Victoria.

The focus of the Marathon will go beyond the spirit of competition and promote other values like appreciating exercise and being surrounded by the natural beauty of Seychelles.  There will be different fitness levels in the Marathon, allowing people from different backgrounds to participate.  Medals and prizes will be awarded to winners from the top five categories including a tee shirt and an Official Time Certificate to all participants.
