Chongqing is gearing up for the 2025 Chang’an Chongqing Marathon, set to take place on March 2 at the picturesque Haitang Yinyu Park on Nanbin Road. The event will host two races: a challenging 42.195-kilometer full marathon with 25,000 participants and a more accessible 5-kilometer mini-run with 10,000 participants, bringing together a total of 35,000 runners. The route promises a scenic journey, starting at Haitang Yinyu Park, passing iconic landmarks like Chaotianmen Bridge and Yangtze River Bridge before looping back, with the mini-run concluding under the majestic Chaotianmen Bridge.
Deputy Director Du Xueyong of the Chongqing Municipal Sports Bureau unveiled four significant enhancements for the 2025 marathon. The race’s medal design will incorporate elements from the famous “Night Rain in Fotu,” an emblematic Bayu Scene, blending modern marathon spirit with traditional Chinese and Chongqing cultural motifs, coinciding with the approaching Year of the Snake in the Chinese Zodiac. The event will maintain its integrated approach, combining the race with a consumption festival, a sports industry forum, a marathon grand slam gathering, a marathon night event, and a CPR+AED training program focusing on life-saving techniques.
In a bid to elevate the event’s technological prowess, the 2025 marathon will introduce smart technology innovations, including an intelligent command system for real-time race data visualization and video tracking. The First Aid Intelligent Management System will ensure prompt medical resource allocation and establish a proactive medical emergency response system to safeguard participants’ well-being. Furthermore, the marathon aims to heighten its global presence by collaborating with prestigious events like the Bangkok Marathon, bolstering the Chongqing Marathon brand and projecting Chongqing’s image on the global stage.
By expanding its international reach and leveraging strategic partnerships, the Chongqing Marathon seeks to position itself as a premier sporting event not only in China but also on the global marathon calendar. With a focus on innovation, safety, and cultural integration, the 2025 edition of the marathon is poised to offer participants a unique and memorable experience, showcasing the best of Chongqing’s landscape, heritage, and spirit to a worldwide audience.
