Sparta Athletics & Running and LØBEREN have joined forces in a new partnership to enhance the running experience for enthusiasts participating in events like the Copenhagen Half Marathon and Copenhagen Marathon. The collaboration aims to elevate activations and events over the next four years, promising an improved running experience for all participants.
According to Jesper Lind Andersson, Head of Commercial at Sparta, the partnership with LØBEREN is a strategic move to add value to their members and race participants. LØBEREN’s dedication to inspiring and developing running aligns perfectly with Sparta’s mission, ensuring a fruitful collaboration that will benefit both new and experienced runners.
The focal point of this agreement is the collaboration on expos leading up to major races such as the Copenhagen Marathon and Copenhagen Half Marathon. The emphasis will be on enhancing the expo experience through innovative ideas, an extensive product range, and engaging activations to create added value for the running community.
Ebbe Møller Nielsen, Director of LØBEREN, emphasizes the shared values and passion for running that underpin this collaboration, aiming to make the partnership greater than the sum of its parts. The joint effort between Sparta and LØBEREN is poised to enrich the running experience for all participants, setting the stage for enhanced events in the coming years.
The partnership officially commenced upon the signing of the agreement and is set to continue until the end of 2028. This period includes significant events like the World Championships in September 2026, where champions will be crowned in various distances amidst a backdrop of 65,000 runners taking part in the open race.
LØBEREN, Denmark’s largest running specialist, has been at the forefront of promoting running as both a sport and a social activity since 1996. With seven stores across the country, LØBEREN is dedicated to meeting the unique needs of every runner, fostering a sense of community through social runs and group training sessions.
On the other hand, Sparta Athletics & Running, a nonprofit sports association with a substantial membership base, reinvests proceeds from major events to support youth athletes and improve running conditions within the association. Their collaboration with LØBEREN signifies a step towards enhancing the running landscape and creating more engaging experiences for all participants.
Meanwhile, the 2025 Copenhagen Marathon winner, Berhane Tesfay from Eritrea, is under suspicion of doping after testing positive for EPO. The case is ongoing, and Tesfay remains suspended pending the final verdict, casting a shadow over the recent marathon event.
In another development, Copenhagen Marathon has partnered with Realbuzz to amplify its focus on charity fundraising. This new collaboration aims to benefit both participants and charitable organizations, highlighting the marathon’s commitment to supporting worthy causes and promoting community engagement through running.
