Participating in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival’s 10k race, students and faculty from Knox Academy in Haddington displayed unwavering determination. Their goal was not just to complete the race but also to raise funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust, showing their commitment to supporting a noble cause.
Despite facing unexpected challenges, such as a sudden route alteration just before the event, the team remained undeterred. The last-minute change required quick adaptation, particularly enduring a demanding uphill stretch towards the finish line. However, the participants, including twelve students and five staff members, rose to the occasion, showcasing resilience and camaraderie throughout the race.
PE teacher Lana Borwick expressed her delight at surpassing their fundraising target, raising over £2,500, doubling their initial goal. The collective effort of the Knox Academy team exemplified a strong community spirit, with students running together and providing mutual support along the course.

The students, including James Baggot, Alasdair Easton, Tara Murray, Ryan Pirie, Jamie Towler, Ava Marnoch, Rory Burns, Sam Palmer, Tilly Darby, Ella Wyllie, Freya Maycock, and Megan MacDonald, also completed the race at Holyrood Park, embodying resilience and determination.
