Torbay AAC athletes recently showcased their prowess at the Santa Eularia Marathon event in Ibiza. The event, offering varying route lengths, attracted participants from around the globe. Four athletes from Torbay AAC ventured to the Spanish island to partake in the annual running race, opting for the 12K race this year, a shorter but faster challenge.
The race commenced by the picturesque sea at Santa Eularia des Riu, guiding the runners along the coast to Es Canar before looping back to the finish line at Santa Eularia des Riu. The route, adorned with turquoise waters and sandy beaches, drew cheers from enthusiastic spectators and live music from bands, creating an electrifying atmosphere for the 1466 runners who took part.
Among the Torbay AAC participants, Mark Atkinson secured an impressive position with a chip time of 55:36, earning the 3rd spot in the mv55 category. The event was a test of endurance and speed for all participants, with Ian Hayward, Sara Crozier, and Anita Merritt also putting their best foot forward in the challenging race.
Meanwhile, Gemma Radcliffe represented Torbay AAC at The Trilateral 40 hosted by Purple Gecko Events. The 40km route, featuring diverse terrains and elevations, provided a thrilling experience for Radcliffe, who embraced the challenge with enthusiasm. Despite encountering some drizzle towards the end, the participants reveled in the scenic beauty and physical demands of the race.
