Kuala Lumpur is gearing up for an exciting weekend as the city prepares to host the annual marathon and LTdL 2025 cycling race. With an impressive turnout expected, the authorities are making necessary arrangements, including road closures to ensure the smooth running of the events.
According to Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus, approximately 40,000 runners, with a significant number coming from overseas, are set to participate in the marathon scheduled for October 4th and 5th. The action-packed weekend will kick off with the 5km and 10km races on Saturday, starting bright and early at 5.30 AM. Roads will be closed from 5 AM to 10 AM to accommodate the runners and ensure their safety.
The following day, Sunday, will witness the longer 21km and 42km races commencing at 3.30 AM, with road closures beginning at 3 AM and lasting until 10 AM. The routes will encompass various key roads in the city, including Jalan Raja Dataran Merdeka, Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan Sultan Ismail, and more, providing a challenging yet scenic backdrop for the participants.
As the marathon unfolds, the LTdL 2025 cycling race will also culminate in Kuala Lumpur, adding to the weekend’s sporting extravaganza. The cycling event’s grand finale will see participants embarking on the last leg of the race starting from Tangkak, Johor, and concluding at KLCC, Jalan Ampang, around 3 PM on Sunday, promising an exciting finish to the prestigious competition.
The event is not only a testament to the city’s vibrant sports scene but also serves as a platform for international participants to showcase their athletic prowess. The marathon and cycling race bring together individuals from diverse backgrounds, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and healthy competition.
As Kuala Lumpur transforms into a bustling hub of athletic activity, spectators can look forward to witnessing remarkable displays of endurance and determination from participants vying for top honors. The road closures, though temporary, are essential to ensure the safety of both participants and the general public, underscoring the meticulous planning that goes into organizing such large-scale events.
With the city abuzz with anticipation, the upcoming weekend promises to be a memorable one for sports enthusiasts and participants alike.
