The local netball community is gearing up for a significant event this weekend to support one of its own, Nicole Noal, a dedicated player and mother facing a challenging health battle. Nicole has been a stalwart member of the Cambridge Park Netball Club for an impressive 27 years, embodying teamwork, resilience, and community spirit since joining the club at the young age of six. In addition to her netball commitment, Nicole has served the NSW Police Force for 13 years, earning respect for her service across various communities.
Besides her sporting and professional pursuits, Nicole is a devoted wife to a fellow police officer and a loving mother to two young daughters. Her journey took a difficult turn a few years ago when she was diagnosed with bowel cancer. Despite successfully undergoing treatment and surgery, the cancer resurfaced last year, with doctors deeming it inoperable and giving her a limited time frame.
With an estimated 12 months left, Nicole is determined to create lasting memories with her family. To assist with the financial strain of medical treatments and expenses, the Cambridge Park Netball Club will host a 24-hour netball marathon this weekend. The ‘Netball for Nicole’ event aims to rally support from players, volunteers, and supporters across the Penrith district and beyond.

Event coordinator Rachael Coombe, a close friend of Nicole, highlighted the significance of the weekend, emphasizing the outpouring of love and support for Nicole during this challenging period. The event will feature a continuous 24-hour netball game with over 100 participants expected to join in the fundraising efforts.

‘Netball for Nicole’ will kick off at the Penrith Valley Regional Sports Centre, welcoming individuals of all ages and skill levels to participate. The event will feature a non-stop game format with rolling substitutions, offering a unique opportunity for both seasoned players and newcomers to engage in a shared passion for netball.

The marathon will commence on Saturday morning, continuing through the night and concluding on Sunday. Participants can register as players, volunteers, or umpires for a nominal fee, with all proceeds contributing to supporting Nicole and her family during this challenging time.
As the community bands together to show solidarity and compassion, the ‘Netball for Nicole’ event symbolizes the power of sports in fostering unity and providing tangible support to those in need. The spirit of camaraderie and shared purpose will undoubtedly make this weekend a memorable and impactful experience for all involved.
