Tanzania’s Gabriel Geay emerged victorious at the prestigious Daegu Marathon 2025, showcasing an impressive display of athleticism and endurance. Geay, renowned for his remarkable performance in the 2023 Boston Marathon where he secured second place, clinched the top spot in the men’s elite race. His fierce sprint in the final stretch propelled him ahead of Addisu Gobena, the 2024 Dubai Marathon champion from Ethiopia, as he crossed the finish line in a commendable time of 2 hours, 5 minutes, and 20 seconds.
In the women’s category, Meseret Belete of Ethiopia claimed a well-deserved triumph, completing the grueling marathon in 2 hours, 24 minutes, and 8 seconds. Belete’s exceptional performance outshone her competitors, with Ruth Jebet, the steeplechase gold medalist from Rio 2016 representing Bahrain, finishing over a minute and a half behind. Tigist Girma secured the third position, a minute further back, in a testament to the fierce competition witnessed at the event.
The Daegu Marathon, held in the Republic of Korea, attracted top-tier athletes from around the world, vying for glory and pushing the boundaries of human achievement.
